Dear HarmonySite administrator,
Several of you have asked for this over the past couple of years: The ability to view your group's event calendar in iCloud, Google Calendar, etc. This is now possible. The HarmonySite calendar in your website has been exposed so that you can "subscribe" to the calendar using iCloud, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, etc. It's clever enough so that if events are subsequently added/changed/deleted in your website calendar, the changes will be reflected in iCloud/Google/Outlook/etc.
This is not hard to do, for any member, but keep in mind that this sort of connectivity is technical by its very nature. You need to know how to use the advanced features of your own calendar system (Google Calendar, iCloud Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, etc) to add a new calendar via a URL. I will NOT be providing instructions on how to do that. Every calendar system is different, and you should be able to Google the instructions you need. For example, "Google Calendar subscribe to external calendar by URL"
To set this up, ensure you're logged into your own website, then simply visit the Event Calendar page (or the Upcoming Events page) and look for the new link at the top of the page, called "Subscribe to this calendar". There will be an "Instructions" link. Click on that, and follow the instructions. They usually involved copying-and-pasting a URL (web address) from the HarmonySite calendar into your external calendar system.
Notes:
· Administration privileges over your website's calendar are NOT required - any member can do this
· Depending on the calendar system you are using, the newly added calendar events can take some time to show up. Changes to the HarmonySite calendar can possibly take many hours to reflect in the external calendar
· Not ALL details of each event are mirrored on the external calendar. For example, attachments or uniform requirements are not mirrored. However, a link is provided in each event to take you to the corresponding event in the HarmonySite calendar
· This new functionality is NOT guaranteed to work in every external calendar system
